For my professional practices class with Barbara Proud we had an assignment where we had to photograph a professional in their environment. The people ranged from realtors to gallery owners. I photographed the amazing Chris Martino, the owner of The Wishing Well in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More Thesis

So I finally got the chance to shoot a little more for my thesis. With this shoot I was trying to focus on having the whole form from head to toe in the frame as well as not centering the subject. I still have a long way to go but let me know what you think!

More Glowing Work

These were shot a few months ago but I got a little backed up with work and winter break. I'm planning on using baby oil on the models to bring in some more detail in the darker areas of the form. Any other suggestions on what to use? Feel free to send me a message if you have ideas!

FINALLY...its NOT me naked!!!!!

So I finally got the chance to work with models tonight. I loved being able to see what I was doing a little more and have more control over the whole situation. I was supposed to have liquid latex with this shoot but I sadly left the metallic tint at home so I just worked a little more with vertical compositions. Thanks to my beautiful (and flexible) models and I hope you all enjoy!

More Excitement!

So I just had another shoot for my thesis and I have to admit I am really excited now. I ended up having to do all self portraits again because I couldn't work anything out with my models this weekend but I actually like how these came out. I have to admit, I messed around with the color a little more than normal but I liked the fire/ice feeling they kind of give off. These are all shot with my Nikon D5000. The Glow Sticks Are BACK!

Soooo at high demand from my senior workshop class I've decided to get back into the glowstick/naked ladies land. These are all self portraits because I need work for tomorrow's class and I only had myself to use. I'm actually kind of inspired by these which hasn't happened in a while so I'm kind of excited. Idealistically I will be in charge of painting with the glowsticks while I have a model pose but for now you'll just have to deal with me. I think I'm having fun again so we'll see where this goes! More thesis madness....

So after my critique a few weeks ago I am completely all over the place with my thesis. I have this work I used for my critique which didn't really go over too well. Now I'm thinking about going back into my glowing figures project and possibly my projection project. Basically I have no idea what I'm doing anymore and it's driving me crazy! Senior year is turning out to be more of a challenge than I thought it would be but hopefully my photo shoot tonight will help me figure stuff out. Anywho, enjoy these photos. Headshots!

Hello all!

Today I had my first real experience with shooting/editing a professional headshot. We are doing a fundraiser for my senior class' thesis show shooting headshots for $25 plus $10 for each fully edited photo so if you want one you should let me know! I'm a SENIOR...What?

So senior year is officially underway and it's some seriously scary shit. The idea of creating a thesis and following it all the way through to a professional quality exhibition is frightening but somewhat exciting. For tomorrow's senior workshop we were required to bring in some new work. I have been in a bit of a rut for a while so it was really hard for me to come up with something. Hence me shooting my work the night before it's due for a critique. These are all abstracted nudes (of myself...eep) because I was my only available model. I imagine these will get a lot better over time but I actually don't hate the way they turned out. Let me know what you think!

More Glow Sticks

So one of the benefits of being home for a week is that I finally got the chance to stock up on glow sticks. The dollar store near me had them for a dollar a pack....and lets just say I went a little crazy. For this weeks assignment for David Graham's class (which I will sadly not be attending due to family problems) we were supposed to re-visit one of our previous projects. Since I had bought more glow sticks I knew I wanted to play with them...the only downfall was that I did not have an assistant for these ones. I think they are a little weaker than my last attempt...but I suppose you can't win them all. So enjoy some more naked Felicia!

First Half of my OFFICIALLY EDITED Dream Series!!!

Hello All!!

So I have been working for weeks on this shoot, torturing many amazing girls by making them lay upside-down on a table basically dangling close to death. They were all great sports and gave me some beautiful photographs! These are the final digital edits for this series but as seen in the post a few before this one I am slowly but surely converting them all into Gum Bichromate diptychs. Let me know what you think!

So after a fun 2 hours of wandering the streets of Philadelphia with my awesome classmates I came up with these pretty sweet street shots. It was my first time using a Range Finder and I have to say I kind of love it. Although I am not a huge fan of street/fashion photography playing with this light equipment was definitely fun enjoy!

So between working on my final for my studio class and converting a lot of my photos into non-silver prints I have been to busy to update this thing. I apologize! In an attempt to escape my nudies which seem to consume my life these days, I have been playing with light and string. Oh and mason jars. Somehow managed a decent photo

Despite everything else going down-hill today I somehow managed to get a good photo out of the shoot I had yesterday. I based my idea off of a Man Ray photograph. I wanted to use the complete blackness to abstract the body even more. I shot this with two photopro grid spots and an octobox with my Nikon D5000. Enjoy!

I created one that received a mass amount of criticism so when we were assigned a project to re-edit one of our previous projects I decided to challenge myself with this photo. projection experiments

So for an assignment for David Graham's class we had a project titled "Altered Subject". Which can basically be interpreted as doing something in the shooting process to make the subject appear different or altered in some way. I have always wanted to experiment with projected images on a nude and finally had my opportunity. I really enjoy these images and hope you will too!

My attempt at re-creating this photo for Studio Class. I ended up using two lights with grid spots as well as an octo-box soft box. It took forever but I'm content with the outcome.

Finally New Work

SO! I've had a hell of a semester so far. I love my classes but everything technically has been going wrong. My computer's logic board crashed last week so I lost some of my recent images I was going to post up here. This first post is my studio portraits for this week. We were supposed to shoot in a new way to challenge ourselves. I wanted to play with a soft but dramatic light. I used a grid spot and a soft box on with a photo pro light set. Enjoy! And the model is my talented illustrator friend Alex Panetta.

Nudies?

So I seem to still be on this whole glow stick kick. For this weeks assignment we were allowed to shoot whatever we wanted or re-do a project. I wanted to re-do my painting with light and of course I wanted to play more with glow sticks. I also wanted to experiment with the human figure. I originally intended on just doing the male nude but after a few photos I decided I wanted to compare it with the female figure. And the only female I had was myself....good times. Hahah. This is my first time shooting myself completely nude and I kind of liked it. The result not the being nude part. Anywho, these photos are all 30 second exposures on my Nikon D5000 with a Aperture of F16. Enjoy!! And I would love a little feedback if you have some! The second image is actually two images I combined together in Photoshop then edited further in Lightroom 3.

Unexpected Light!

So this is an assignment that I intended on working out one way but it totally surprised me. I had never done long exposure or night photography before so I really wanted to mess around with night street photography. Alas, I was stuck on my couch all day Sunday due to sickness so I was forced to do my shoot at home. I had these glow sticks my mom got me for Halloween and have been wanting to mess around with them for a while. Surprisingly, I am in love with this project and might actually extend it. I have a new found love for long exposures and glow sticks!

NYC!!

Yesterday we had our media arts field trip to NYC and I must say it was pretty amazing. Everyone split up but I had fun with everyone I ended up with. And a TON of fun singing on the 4 hour bus ride home. Aside from all of that I did take some photos with my Nikon D5000. All of the ones I chose to upload ended up being from the Met which is a pretty inspiring place. I was a little disappointed in their photo gallery but everything else made up for it. Zombie Invasion!!!

So last night I had one of the most fun photo shoots I've done in a while. And it involved assorted meats and fake blood. For my digital course at school we were required to re-do a book cover of our choice. I have a very weird obsession with zombies so of course I chose The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks to re-make. The cover surprisingly has no blood so I wanted to spice it up a bit. Here is the picture I used for the front cover. See if you can guess what it is!

Street Photography

Is DEFINITELY not my specialty but I was happy with how some of my photos turned out. David Graham said that street shooting is starting to decline in our department so he wanted to get us out of our comfort zones and get us into people's faces. I mean, a lot of people don't have a problem photographing strangers...but I am not one of those people. I suppose it could grow on me though seeing how these turned out. These photos are all shot digitally...as I am still trying to master digital since it is my weak point. But it seems like I'm still seeing things in black and white since 3 out of 4 of these are black and white. I guess old habits are hard to change. Anywho, enjoy!!!

Recent Digital Work!!

Hey Yall!!! So I figured I'd get some work up that was actually part of a class this semester. This assignment was for David Graham's Junior Course and the concept was interrupted frame. This is the first real assignment I've chosen to do digitally and it surprisingly didn't turn out too bad. I shot these in my apartment with a black back drop and a single tungsten light. Enjoy!!

Oh. And we had this "cat challenge" we had to photograph as well. It's basically trying to take an overly photographed, almost cliche subject and making it more interesting. I actually hate cats, I'm much more of a dog person but I attempted to shoot something anyway. I ended up getting two creepy cat figurines from the thrift store and photographing them in my apartment with a black back drop and a small tungsten light. Here it is!!

Slacking on Updating

So I have yet to actually complete any of my photo projects yet so I figured I'd post some photos from a shoot I did tonight of a friend's bike. His name is Michael Englisis and he is a fellow student at the University of the Arts majoring in Film as well as a bike enthusiast. He basically completely restored this bike and let me just say it is pretty awesome. So here are some shots nothing too artsy as he wanted to show the classic details of the bike but I still liked a few of them. Enjoy!!

So I officially started my Junior year this past Thursday but have yet to have an actual photography class. My days have been full of reading and Liberal Arts courses...and to be honest with you I'm going through a photography withdraw. I figured to spice up my blog a bit I'd add some of my older work. The dates of these photographs range from 2008 to 2010 so there is quite a variety but I figure they should suffice until I can get out there shooting again. Enjoy!

Internet Fail/Eastern State Penitentiary

So I've had a severe lack of internet for the last couple of weeks which explains my lack of posting. I've been so busy unpacking and getting the new apartment settled that it's been hard to get some real shooting in but yesterday I got the surprise opportunity to go to Eastern State Penitentiary.
Being a person who loves to focus on textures and architecture I was basically in heaven. I know it's not an original place to shoot but it was still truly inspiring. Hope you all enjoy!!!

So this is my first official post of photos. And I'm kind of excited. Recently I bought myself a Nikon D5000. I'm not big on digital photography but it seems almost impossible to make it in the photography world today without a DSLR. These are a few of the first photos I took with my camera at the Philadelphia Zoo on August 2nd 2010. I'm still learning all of it's little tricks and such but these photos were taken with a Nikkor 55-200mm VR zoom lens which is a pretty decent beginners lens. Hopefully I'll be able to work up enough money to buy a fancier lens but for now this is what I have so enjoy!!

So I decided I wanted to start to get some of my work out there for the world to see so I'm starting this blog to do it! It's mostly going to be comprised of my recent works but you never know if something old might pop up.
